Payment Method

What you can pay with, how card details are handled, and what to do when a payment does not go through.

Cards we accept

We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express, along with PayPal. The checkout shows only the options that work for the country you have selected, so you will not be offered a method that cannot complete.

How card details are handled

Card numbers are entered on the payment provider's own secure form and are never sent to our servers, which is why we cannot look up or store them. That means the number never passes through this site, we hold no card data, and any change to your card must be made with your bank rather than with us.

PayPal payments

With PayPal you complete the payment on PayPal's site and are returned here with the outcome. The order is created on our side in the usual way, and refunds go back to the same PayPal account.

Currency and charges

The charge is made in US dollars. Any conversion into your own currency is done by your bank at its rate, so the figure on your statement can differ slightly from the order total — that difference is the bank's fee, not a charge from us.

Declined payments and holds

A refusal is a message from your bank rather than a fault on the order. Nothing is captured when a payment fails, and a temporary authorisation clears itself within a few days.

How the checkout is protected

Encryption and the card form

Every page, including checkout, is encrypted in transit. The card form itself belongs to our payment provider, which means the number is typed into their interface and not into this site.

What we can see

We can see whether a payment succeeded, the amount, and the last four digits of the card so that a refund can be matched to the right transaction. We cannot see the full number, the expiry date or the security code, and we could not look them up even for a support request.

When money moves

Authorisation and capture

Placing an order asks your bank to authorise the amount. The charge is only completed when the parcel is being prepared to leave, so a cancelled order is released rather than refunded.

Receipts and records

A confirmation email is sent as soon as the order is accepted, and it doubles as your receipt. Need a more formal invoice, or one addressed to a company? Ask us and we will issue it against the same order number.

Disputes and reversals

If a charge looks wrong

Contact us before raising a dispute with your bank. Almost every unexplained charge turns out to be a pending authorisation from an attempt that did not complete, and it clears on its own within a few days.

Chargebacks

If a dispute is raised with the bank, the payment provider will ask us for the order record and the delivery evidence. We send the order and delivery records when asked; if the claim succeeds, the amount returns to the card that paid for it.

Refunds to the original method

Money goes back the way it came: the original card or PayPal account, nothing else. It is a deliberate restriction rather than an inconvenience, and it exists to protect the person who paid.
